Breckenridge @ Ishpeming Div. 8

Just a little on Breckenridge:" On paper the Huskies return quarterback Carter Staley, who ran for 1,000 yards and passed for 700 more in 2017. They also return running backs Hunter Collins and Lucas Ebright who are both lightning fast. Both ran legs in Breckenridge’s state championship 400 relay team earlier this summer. On the outside they have Brennan Wazlusky (6-1, 210) returning while Shriver Miller (6-5, 250), Hunter Smith (6-2, 245), Corbin Reed (5-11, 220) and Levi Warren (6-1, 250) will be a formidable force in the trenches.

Defensively, Breckenridge returns a lot also, led by All-State linebacker Smith who had 150 tackles in 2017."

this will be speed vs speed.Breckenridge (11-0) scored 305 points while giving up 31 in 9 games including 6 shutouts, one of them a 2-0 forfeit. their 9 opponents had a combined record of 36 wins and 49 losses with 3 opponents earning
a winning record going 8-3,6-4 and 8-2, the other 6 were 1-8,3-6,2-7,0-9,4-5 and 4-5.obviously at 11-0 Ishpeming brings on a completely new and very serious challenge to them,a team much like themselves but hopefully better.

long ride is right , Breckenridge is located 5 hours 45 minutes and 367.5 miles from Ishpeming.wonder how many fans will take the long ride and if they will use the travel as excuse if they happen to lose.

I'm so happy that the MHSAA did away with forcing neutral sites for these games! Ishpeming earned the right to host this game. For far too long, UP schools have been forced to travel downstate.

Heard yesterday that Breckenridge really wanted to play Ishpeming in the Dome and even offered to pay the fee but coach Olson refused preferring to play in the rain, sleet, snow and cold.smart move and not the first time the Dome was requested by downstate opponents and refused if memory serves.

Ya heard that to halpack, wish we would get a little snow to coat the field for Saturday. I know Ishpeming only likes two dome games a year!!!! Hoping we getum this year.....

Wonder if Olsen is second guessing not playing in the Dome

I doubt he is second guessing. That was the right move. I think having all those speedsters on the carpet of the dome would have been a mistake.
