Little behind getting this going. This is somewhat of a carry over from another thread. Hope to post Wisconsin D3 College ongoings and scores. Plan to capture how U.P. products are doing too. Info will be taken from the respected conferences and school websites:

This past week:

UW-Platteville 59
@ East Texas Baptist 44

UW-Oshkosh 20
@ Carthage 9

UWO was picked to win the WIAC this year- but many think otherwise. Their 3 keys offensive producers all graduated and these are big shoes to fill. Heard the UWO QB threw 3 interceptions this game.

UW-Eau Claire 45
@ Loras (IA) 13

Well what do you know, have to stop here. Will get back.

Concordia (WI) 31
@ Finlandia 3

Not sure how Finlandia will look this season.

Wisconsin Lutheran 30
@ Lake Forest 38

Lake Forest scores 14 unanswered points in 2nd half to come from behind.

Was debating or not to throw in D2 U.P./MI Colleges, but maybe others out there can get that going.

Anyways, Just mentioned Randy Awery in a Lakeland post. This past summer he resigned from Concordia Chicago. Here is the article:

Week 2

UW- Oshkosh 3
Davenport (MI) 7

It appears Davenport started their program the Spring of 2016 for the 2017 season. If this is incorrect someone please holler.

I see one of the Davenport assistant coaches / offensive coordinator / QB Coach is Jim Purtill. Coach Purtill was the head coach at St.Norbert College during those prime years they brought in U.P. Football players. I did not know the last 2 seasons he had the OC/QB coaching job at...UW-Oshkosh.

It will be interesting what one of my co-workers will have to say about this game.

I see Davenport plays Michigan Tech next week.

Some more WIAC scores:

UW-River Falls 27
@ Bethel (MN) 32

UW-LaCrosse 34
@ Illinois Wesleyan 31

UW-Stevens Point 13
@ Wabash (IN) 16

Concordia-Moorhead 6
@ UW-Whitewater 24

In overtime
UW-Stout 24
@ Gustavus Adolphus (MN) 23

Besides Whitewater, the WIAC teams had some pretty exciting non-conference games! Will touch on another one here...

Some other Wisconsin colleges of interest:

Lawrence Tech 30
@ Wisconsin Lutheran 22

Believe Lakeland was idle this week. Next week along with Wisconsin Lutheran they host schools from the MIAA.

This was another exciting D3 game played last night between St. Norbert College and UW-Eau Claire:

In double overtime
St. Norbert College 23
@ UW-Eau Claire 30

Notes from the SNC website written by Dan Lukes:

UWEC had the ball deep in SNC territory and led 16-6 with 2:13 left in game. They throw a pick and SNC returns it to the SNC 31 yd line. SNC would drive down field, throw a TD pass & kick extra point. Now UWEC's lead is 16-13.

SNC's on side kick gets the "perfect bounce" and SNC recovers at the UWEC 47 yd line.

SNC kicks a 29 yd FG with 6 seconds left to force OT.

SNC scores on their first possession in OT. Kick XP.
UWEC faces a 3-9 at SNC 24, but SNC gets called for offsides. UWEC would convert on 4th down then eventually score. Kick XP to force 2nd OT.

UWEC scores on a 9 yd run, Kick XP.
SNC drives near goal line. Faces 3rd and goal from the 2. UWEC stuffs them for no gain. Then on 4th down UWEC knocks down the SNC pass attempt.

This is the 3rd time in St. Norbert's last 4 losses they lost in overtime. The win for UWEC could be a much needed boost as they have been struggling in past years.

In the WIAC yesterday:

UW- River Falls 28
@ Missouri Baptist 38

Dickinson State (ND) 35
@ UW-LaCrosse 17

UW-Oshkosh 17
@Lincoln (MO) 7

UWO still has an outstanding defense. It's going to have to carry them in games like this.

Middle Georgia State 0
@ UW- Whitewater 73

Warhawks empty their bench in this one. Majority of the scoring (especially the 2nd half) came on runs, pick 6's and field goals.

Andy Cooper of Munising was busy. Did 7 of UWW's 12 kickoffs, Did UWW's only punt of the game for 55 yds (put it inside the 20 yd line) and had one reception- a 36 yd TD catch.

Dakota State 28
@ UW- Stevens Point 51

UW-Platteville 28
@ Thomas More (KY) 35

Other D3 scores of interest:

(taken from their conference website didn't catch the home teams- my apologies)

Eureka 34, Finlandia 12

Finlandia senior LB Dillion Hueckstaedt of Baraga had 7 tackles and 1 forced fumble. Newberry freshman LB David Carlson came up with a big defensive fumble recovery for Finlandia to end one drive.

Hope 53, Wisconsin Lutheran 12

Trant Deans of Westwood started at left guard for WLC.

Trine 56, Lakeland 6

Johan Carlson of Kingsford started at center for Lakeland.

I like these U.P. products down here. They are good looking football players! Johan Carlson should spice up his Scandanavian name a little more "Johan Karlsson." (Sorry I've been doing too much family genealogy the past year)

Oh St. Norbert was off this past Saturday.

Morning

It was a slow weekend for area D3 teams, but here we go-

UW-Stout 49
@ California Lutheran 24

Lakeland 12
@ UW-Platteville 49

UW-Eau Claire 0
@ St. Thomas (MN) 49

So next weekend within the WIAC, the conference games begin.

Both Wisconsin Lutheran and Finlandia were idle this past weekend. Lakeland was mentioned above so get ready for this score...

Grinnel (IA) 0
@ St. Norbert College 91

Yes, 91. The St. Norbert defense scored 4 TD's, as well as having a special team's TD. St Norbert converted scores on 6 Grinnell turnovers.

Luke Bero from Rapid River / Gladstone (Think he lived in Gladstone but attended Rapid River?) had 2 tackles- one was solo and had a tackle for loss.

So if you're Grinnell, what's the silver lining? How do you turn a negative into a positive?

They highlighted the effort of the players and the tackling machines certain players were. One guy set a school record for 17 solo tackles- 18 total. He also had a forced fumble and fumble recovery.

Other defensive players had a number of tackles, but the one linebacker named Ryan Slager from Orland Park, Illinois really stood out.

Sometimes in games like this you learn about someone's true character, don't cha'?

Yesterday here in Wisconsin the WIAC schools began their all-important conference games. Very good games but you can't help but get the feel UW-Whitewater and UW- Oshkosh will be the front runners again.

UW-Oshkosh 48
@UW-River Falls 14

UW-Platteville 20
@ UW-Stevens Point 6

UW-Whitewater 30
@ UW-LaCrosse 7

UW-Eau Claire 20
@ UW- Stout 26

Other colleges of interest....

Rockford 20
@ Wisconsin Lutheran 26

Concordia Chicago 28
@ Lakeland 61

St. Norbert College 34
@ Knox (Ill) 0

Finlandia University 7
@ Olivet 72

Few notes from the Finlandia website article write up:
This was Finlandia's first ever conference game (MIAA). Ishpeming grad Eric Kostreva had a "forth best in school history" 185 all purpose yards. Sounds like he had an awesome TD run that involved "busting tackles." Those are the ones fun to see.
Baraga's Dillion Hueckstaedt led Finlandia on defense with 12 tackles.

UWW appears to be the cream of the crop again.

UW-Stout 19

UW- Plateville 10
@ UW- Oshkosh 31

After UWW exposed UWO's inexperienced offense last week, the Titans came alive late in the 2nd half. In the 4th quarter they scored 21 unanswered points in a 7 minute span.

UW-Stevens Point 27
@ UW- LaCrosse 63

Other scores involving colleges with U.P. football products on the roster:

St. Norbert College 21
@ University of Chicago 20

St. Norbert holds off late University of Chicago rally. Univ. of Chicago score 2 TD's in final 2 minutes of game.

Rockford's first win over Lakeland in 11 meetings. According to Lakeland's website, Rockford scored 31 unanswered points and took advantage of several turnovers.

WIAC scores from 10-27-18

UW-Whitewater 40
@ UW-Stout 10

UW-Stout scores a TD in the final 16 seconds. Warhawks defense is just outstanding. Just come up with so many big stops and big plays. With the win UWW clinches a share of the conference title.

UW-Eau Claire 24
@ UW-River Falls 42

Nice win for the hard working Falcons.

UW-Platteville 28
@ UW-LaCrosse 35

Aside from 2008 when UW-Lacrosse played a home game at another site (reconstruction), this was the first time UW-LaCrosse defeated UW-Plateville on their home field since 2006. Very competitive game. UWL blocked a punt & returned it for a TD to jump out 14-0, but the Pioneers continued to fight back throughout the game. UWP eventually would take a 28-21 lead in the 3rd. Key events that followed- UWL comes back on a 50 yd 8 play scoring drive to tie the game. UWP misses a chip shot FG (25yd attempt). UW-LaCrosse winning score is set up thanks to a big punt return.

UW- Oshkosh 21
@ UW-Stevens Point 27

Huge upset win on Senior Day for the Pointers against #10 ranked UWO. Titans start the game with a scoring drive, but UWSP answers with a scoring drive of their own but miss the XP to trail 7-6. UW-Oshkosh misses 2 FG's while the Pointers defense comes up with 4 interceptions- to include a pick six and an INT to end UWO's final drive.

Other D3 scores of interest involving U.P. football players

Wisconsin Lutheran 0
@ Aurora 43

Benedictine University 42
@ Lakeland University 52

Johan Carlson starting center for Lakeland- Their O-Line paves the way for 3 Muskies to rush over 100 yards.

Macalester 15
St. Norbert College 17

St. Norbert led 14-0 heading into the 4th quarter. Were able to hold on to win by running out the clock on final drive.

In an exciting game with many "twists and turns," Concordia scores 21 unanswered points to win the Luther Cup. Warriors chance to tie the game late in the 4th quarter comes up short with a batted ball knocked incomplete in the end zone.

Monmouth 7
@ St. Norbert 10

Bethel (MN) 12
@ UW- Whitewater 26

UW-Whitewater returns to the semi finals after a 2 year absence. Warhawks defense played outstanding, intercepting Bethel's QB 4 times and holding him to 91 yards rushing.

Run game comes up huge also for UWW. They only complete 1 of 9 pass attempts due to the bad weather.

Defense & a running game- awesome!

Munising's Andy Cooper wasn't listed as participating in this game.

Warhawks will now travel to Belton, Texas to play Mary Hardin-Baylor in the D3 semis.

Game is Sat 8 Dec 2018. Kickoff 2:30pm (eastern)

The winner of this game plays the winner between John Hopkins (MN) and Mount Union (OH).

This past Saturday 8 Dec 2018

UW-Whitewater 14
@ Mary Hardin-Baylor 31

Mary Hardin-Baylor finally get pass UW-Whitewater in the playoffs. Warhawks held to 88 total yards in the first half and had 4 turnovers in the game. UWW also could not capitalize on a couple of their own defensive takeaways as well as giving up a 90 yard punt return.

"The speed piece of their punt returner, that guy, whoa, holy buckets. We knew we had to keep him contained and we did the entire time, other than the one play."
UW-Whitewater Head Coach Kevin Bullis

UW-Whitewater finished the season 13-1. On a side note, Munising's Andy Cooper did not handle the punting duties or participate.

This Friday's Stagg Bowl will feature Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX) and...guess who...Mount Union (OH). Game time listed as 12pm. Should be televised.
